దేశ వ్యాప్తంగా మినీ ఎన్నికల సమరం నడుస్తోంది. ఇందులో భాగంగా ఇవాళ మూడు రాష్ట్రాల్లో ఎన్నికల పోలింగ్ ప్రారంభమైంది. అస్సాం, కేరళ, పుదుచ్చేరి రాష్ట్రాల్లో ఓటింగ్ ప్రారంభమైంది. ఉదయం 7 గంటల నుంచి సాయంత్రం 5 గంటల వరకు పోలింగ్ జరగనుంది. ఎండ కాలం కారణంగా ఉదయాన్నే పోలింగ్ కేంద్రాలకు ప్రజలు తరలివచ్చారు. పెద్ద వయసు గల వారు బూత్లకు తరలివచ్చారు. ఇక ఎలాంటి అవాంఛనీయ సంఘటనలు జరగకుండా భారీ పోలీస్ భద్రత ఏర్పాటు చేశారు.
అసోంలో 126 స్థానాలకు 722 మంది పోటీ చేస్తున్నారు. కేరళలో 140 స్థానాల్లో 883 అభ్యర్థులు పోటీ చేస్తుండగా.. పుదుచ్చేరిలో 30 స్థానాలకు గాను 294 మంది అభ్యర్థులు ఉన్నారు.
మొత్తం దేశ వ్యాప్తంగా ఐదు రాష్ట్రాల్లో పోలింగ్ జరుగుతోంది. ఈరోజు అస్సాం, కేరళ, పుదుచ్చేరిలో జరుగుతుండగా తర్వాత తమిళనాడు, పశ్చిమ బెంగాల్లో జరగనున్నాయి. తమిళనాడులోని మొత్తం 234 అసెంబ్లీ స్థానాలకు, పశ్చిమ బెంగాల్లోని 152 స్థానాలకు మొదటి విడత పోలింగ్ ఏప్రిల్ 23న జరగనుంది. ఇక పశ్చిమ బెంగాల్లో 142 స్థానాలకు రెండో విడత పోలింగ్ ఏప్రిల్ 29న జరగనుంది. నాలుగు రాష్ట్రాలు, కేంద్రపాలిత ప్రాంతమైన పుదుచ్చేరి అసెంబ్లీ ఎన్నికల ఫలితాలు మే 4న విడుదలకానున్నాయి.
