2014లో తాను ఆస్ట్రేలియాను సందర్శించానని.. 28 ఏళ్లలో ఒక భారత ప్రధాని అక్కడ పర్యటించడం అదే మొదటిసారి అన్నారు. ఇక మీరు 28 ఏళ్లు వేచి ఉండాల్సిన అవసరం లేదని.. తాను అప్పుడే చెప్పానన్నారు. గత 12 ఏళ్లలో ఇది తన మూడవ పర్యటన అని.. అంటే ఈసారి ఇది హ్యాట్రిక్ అన్నారు. ఇది భారత్-ఆస్ట్రేలియా సంబంధాలు ఎంత ఉన్నత స్థాయిలో ఉన్నాయో చూపిస్తుందని చెప్పారు.. ఇందులో అతిపెద్ద పాత్ర మోడీది కాదని.. భారతీయ సమాజ సభ్యులైన మీ అందరిదీ అని పేర్కొన్నారు.
‘‘మెల్బోర్న్లో ఒకే రోజులో మూడు రుతువులు ఉంటాయని అంటారు. కానీ భారతీయ సమాజం తమ సాంస్కృతిక శోభతో దీనికి మరింత శోభను చేకూర్చింది. ఇక్కడ భారతీయత ఉట్టిపడే రంగులతో నిండిన మార్కెట్లు చాలా ఉన్నాయి. కొందరు దీనిని లిటిల్ ఇండియా అని.. మరికొందరు మినీ ఇండియా అని పిలుస్తారు. పేరు ఏదైనప్పటికీ.. ఈ నగరం భారతీయత ఉట్టిపడే రంగులతో నిండి ఉంది.’’ అని తెలిపారు.
